Removing The Stainless Steel Protective Covering From A Dishwasher

To protect a stainless steel dishwasher door front from damage during the shipping process, a plastic protective covering is adhered to the panel. Once you install the dishwasher in your home, you need to remove the protective covering as soon as possible to avoid corrosion caused by the plastic degrading while adhered to the stainless steel. Access the edge of the panel to remove all the protective covering, as you do not want to leave any of the covering along the sides of the panel.

Instructions

1. Open the dishwasher door to access the screws along each side of the door. These screws hold the trim pieces to each side of the dishwasher door and secure the stainless steel front panel in the dishwasher door.

2. Remove the screws from each side of the dishwasher door. The number of screws varies by manufacturer. Pull the trim pieces from the sides of the dishwasher door and set them aside.

3. Slide the stainless steel front panel to the left or right to remove it from the dishwasher door. The front panel is held onto the dishwasher by two slots that run the width of the dishwasher, one at the top of the door and one at the bottom.

4. Grasp the plastic protective covering at one corner of the stainless steel panel. Slowly peel the covering from the panel.

5. Clean the surface of the stainless steel panel with a soft cloth and an all-purpose cleaner that contains ammonia. This removes any coating residue.

6. Slide the stainless steel panel back into the dishwasher door. Replace the trim onto each side of the door, and secure it with the screws you removed.
