Homemade Diswashing Detergent

Avoid using commercial dishwasing detergents by making your own at home.

Instead of purchasing dishwasher detergent, you can make your own at home to save money. Making your own dishwasher detergent is also beneficial to the environment because many commercial dishwasher detergents contain ingredients that are not environmentally friendly. Homemade dish detergents can be made with items found in your pantry, and it does not take long to mix them together.

Instructions

Powder Detergent

1. Combine 1 cup of washing soda with 1 cup of borax in a container.

2. Add 1/2 cup of salt and 1/2 cup of citric acid to the container.

3. Stir the ingredients to mix them together well.

4. Add 2 tbsp. of the detergent to the dishwasher.

Liquid Detergent

5. Combine 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of borax in a glass jar.

6. Add 1 cup of hot water to the ingredients. Stir until the ingredients mix together well.

7. Add 1 or 2 drops of your preferred essential oil to the detergent. This will add a pleasant scent to the dishwasher soap.

8. Add 2 tbsp. of the detergent to the dishwasher.
