Magic Chef dishwashers are made by the Whirlpool Corporation, so if you have used a Whirlppol dishwasher in the past, the controls may look familiar. However, if you are used to model with a knob that you must turn to start the machine, the more recent designs of the Magic Chef dishwasher will look a bit different to you. With the newer model Magic Chef dishwashers, you use a flat touchpad control panel to get the dishwasher started.
Instructions
1. Use the faucet nearest your dishwasher and run the hot water for several minutes if the hot water system has not been used for more than two weeks. This is a safety precaution to dispel the possible presence of hydrogen gas, which is flammable. According to the safety information in the Magic Chef dishwasher's user manual, "If the hot water system has not been used for such a period, before using the dishwasher turn on all hot water faucets and let the water flow from each for several minutes. This will release any accumulated hydrogen gas. As the gas is flammable, do not smoke or use an open flame during this time."
2. Close the door on the Magic Chef dishwasher firmly. It should latch into place with an audible sound.
3. Select your wash cycle and options on the control panel pad. Wash cycles are "Heavy," "Normal" and "Light." Options are "High Temperature," "Heated Dry" and "Delay Start." Just press the corresponding buttons to make your selection.
4. Press the "START/CANCEL" button to start the wash cycle. This "powers on" the Magic Chef dishwasher.
