Thermador Cooking

A Thermador kitchen

For more than 70 years, Thermador has produced home appliances for the kitchen. The company's biggest claim to fame was introducing the built-in wall oven half a century ago. Today it encompasses more than just ovens, including refrigerators, dishwashers and built-in coffee makers. The Thermador line emphasizes sleek design and professional-style appliances for the home.

Ranges

Thermador appliances are known for their sleek metal styling. Those looking for a modern, "clean" look for their kitchens will likely enjoy Thermador.

Ranges and range tops feature gas burners with a patented "star" design that channels flames in an array that Thermador claims maximizes heating and distributes temperature evenly under a pan or pot.

Thermador's electric cook tops feature ceramic, smooth surfaces. Many appliance sellers refer to Thermador as the most-advanced cook tops available in part because of heat distribution and responsiveness to temperature setting.

Ovens

Thermador boasts that its ovens are state of the art for many different reasons. Ovens feature "super-fast" preheat that supposedly takes fewer than seven minutes for any temperature. Thermador also claims its ovens have the most cooking space on the market -- 4.7 cubic feet. A "telescopic" rack system uses ball bearings for smooth movement of the racks and also allows racks to come out fully extended while still bearing weight.

Thermador convection ovens feature what the company refers to as a "baffle system" that it claims distributes and heats more effectively than other convection ovens.

And based on needs, one can get custom oven sets with double ovens, oven/convection oven combinations or even a complete set of oven, convection, microwave and warming drawer all in one installation.

Ventilation Hoods

Thermador ventilation hoods come in a variety of models that meet different user needs. Models focus on silence, downdraft, power, style and even electronic features. Styles are available for use with islands or a more traditional cook top. Most models feature the signature Thermador sleek metal look.

Price

Because of the quality and many grades of Thermador appliances, prices range anywhere from $800 to the many thousands of dollars -- especially as one gets into professional equipment. Appliance retailers and wholesalers across the country and online carry Thermador and can offer detailed information.
