Troubleshoot A Maytag Mdb5100awb

The Maytag model MDB5100AWB dishwasher has a full one-year warranty that covers the cost of all repairs and labor. The cost of parts is covered for two years. The power module, soil sensor, center spray nozzle, spray arms, top wash arm hose and motor are covered under warranty for five years. The tub will be replaced free of charge if leaks develop within the first twenty years of ownership. If minor issues arise, troubleshoot the dishwasher to identify and resolve the problem.

Instructions

Will Not Fill

1. Close the door and latch it properly. Select the desired cycle.

2. Turn the water supply on. Turn the shutoff valve on the water supply line counterclockwise to turn the water on fully.

3. Disconnect the inlet hose and remove the water valve inlet. Remove any sediment clogging the valves. Replace the valve and reconnect the hose. Remove any kinks in the hose.

Does Not Drain

4. Disconnect the end of the drain hose attached to the garbage disposal, if applicable. Remove the knock-out by placing the end of a screwdriver on it and tapping it lightly with a hammer. Replace the drain hose.

5. Elevate the drain hose at least 32 inches from the floor to prevent water from being siphoned back into the tub.

6. Check to see if the cycle has completed. The dishwasher will not drain fully until the cycle is complete.

Odors

7. Run a rinse cycle to remove food particles if the dishes are being stored in the machine prior to washing.

8. Use detergents that do not contain chlorine bleach. The bleach can cause a strong chemical odor.

9. Fill the detergent dispenser with baking soda. Select the "Light Wash" cycle and allow it to run for 10 minutes. Open the door to interrupt the cycle and allow it to stand overnight. Close the door and allow the cycle to complete.

Leaks

10. Measure the detergent carefully to prevent sudsing. Less detergent is needed in soft water.

11. Use a detergent designed for automatic dishwashers. Discard old, clumped detergent.

12. Check the rinse aid lid to make sure it is securely attached and is not leaking.
